During the economic growth period of the 80's, people aspired to work in high dollar environments, lunch and drink with peer executives, and international travel. The rebellious Baby Boomers who had refused to sell out and be like their parents, suddenly found themselves getting educations and making even more money than their parents.

The corporate world was where everyone aspired to be.

 Just like the movie, The Graduate, where plastics were touted as the wave of the future, in its stead, that industry took back seat to the technology wave . Dot.coms and technology made their way not only into the corporate world, but into the homes of nearly every American.  With someone joining the internet every 2 seconds and someone starting a home based business every 11 seconds, is it any wonder that there is more money to be made than ever before?

Boeing and McDonalds are industries that anyone would envy; and even since their inceptions in the middle of the 20th century, Ebay has blown them out of the water in profits in less than a decade of business. Taking it one step further than Ebay, it would be easy to see that marrying trillion dollar industries to the internet is a plan that spells success, a success that even Ebay would applaud.

To replace the hard hit workforce when the recession hit, Corporate America started looking for alternatives. And soon many white male Americans found themselves looking for a workplace that could afford them.  And many were unable to replace that lost income.

The Dilemma
As a dying breed of employees, these overeducated, underpaid men and women who had finally managed to find their place among the corporate world, studied the application of networking and  marketing.  Realization that they never wanted to be downsized, furloughed, fired, or make those at the top rich at their own expense, these unemployed men and women took their futures into their own hands.

It made more sense to play for their own teams and reap the financial rewards.

The Ideas
Franchising is expensive and very rule oriented. Very few people can afford a franchise or work as long as it takes to get a franchise making big money. And franchises keep you under the rules of a higher entity, just like Corporate America.

Building your own business from a home office sounds good, but without the tools, teaching and training, and a system to make it work, many people give up.  It's just too much work for too little pay.

The Fix

Networking and marketing started in the 1950's and has gotten so much respectability in this century that many professionals are diversifying to make it an additional stream of income and to create generational wealth for them and their families. Business publications, including "Success," "Wall Street Journal," "Millionaire Magazine," and "The Godly Businesswoman" have showcased network marketing as the best business for the future.

Predictions are that eight out of every ten new marketers are white-collar professionals seeking financial solace from stormy Corporate America. Unlike the corporate pyramid,  network marketing structures you and your success team around a plan to make sure that you become successful: the only variable in your success is you. Everyone's success is dependent on the team-effort.

In times of economic uncertainty,  rising unemployment, and a need for supplemental income, networking new members becomes easiest. Direct sales exceeded 25 billion in 2000 according to the Direct Selling Association. Look not at Network Marketing for what it is, but for what it is destined to become. The internet has insured its success and on a global level. Network Marketing will touch every life on the planet.

Network marketing does not require a large investment. Many people get involved without any money requirement.
